Alina Simone is a singer-turned-writer whose work has appeared in the New York Times, New York Times Magazine, Slate, The Wall Street Journal, Esopus, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, BOMBlog, and the Los Angeles Review among many others. She is a regular contributor to BBC’s The World, and the author of two books: the essay collection You Must Go and Win and the novel Note to Self, both published by Faber. She has also taught writing at Yale University.

Her next book, a collection of essays about music, will be published in 2015 by University of Texas Press as part of their American Music series.

She lives in New York City with her husband, philosopher Josh Knobe, and their daughter Zoe.
